The project in the framework of European Union’s Europe Aid Asia-Invest Programme aims at capacity building for business intermediaries and SMEs in the Less Developed Regions of China in the field of Cleaner Production.
In Europe Cleaner Production is a well established experienced management approach for sustainable entrepreneurship, thereby improving the environmental and economical performance of enterprises and increase their social responsibility the same time. These are achieved by systematically improving all production and service activities of enterprises by reducing environmental impacts through waste and emission minimization, by increasing material and energy efficiency, by increasing quality standards, and by improving working conditions, work safety and workers skills.
It is assumed that embodying such concepts into enterprises in Less Developed Regions will potentially close the gap between the high standards of production responsibility in Europe and the low standards in the targeted Chinese regions at present. The project aims to prepare the groundwork for Cleaner Production application on a larger scale in the targeted regions. The project is in line with the most recent 5-years plan of the People’s Republic of China to pay more attention to the Less Developed Regions in terms of capacity building, environmental, economical and social responsibility.
