Feasibility Study for Distributed Generation (DG) and Renewable Energy Portfolio (REP) of a Distribution Utility: Case Study in the Philippines (2005 - 2006)
The specific objective of the action was to map out a distributed generation and renewable energy strategy for a distribution utility under a restructuring power sector using a case study in the Philippines. Moreover, the Action contributed to the following overall objectives:
-- Increasing the security of energy supply of ASEAN countries by exploring renewable energy distributed as a supply option;
-- Increasing the economic exchanges between European Union and ASEAN countries by promoting technology transfer in renewable energy investments in the ASEAN;
-- Improving the environment at local and global level by taking advantage of the environmental benefits of renewable energy technologies;
-- Facilitating the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Co-operation 2004-2009 in particular Programme Area No. 5 Renewable Energy strategy to promote the development and contribution of new and renewable energy (NRE) in energy supply.
The project was executed under leadership of CEPALCO (Mindanao, Philippines) in tem with experts from Thailand and UK and Austria. CENTRIC AUSTRIA INTERNATIONAL was responsible for the design of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the identified projects:
-- Mini-hydro (20 MW)
-- Biomass Cogeneration (2 x 10 MW)
-- PV-plant. (1 MW).
