Long term training in Europe

The long term training provided within the EU for a limited number of selected Chinese participants was a new feature for a SYNERGY project.

The objective of the long term training was to give a more in-depth training on the same issues that make the objects of the training courses in China, by combining theoretical knowledge with practice in selected energy companies, utilities, universities, research institutes, relevant (public or private) administrations. By this the objectives of the SYNERGY Programme and the EU energy and environmental policy should be underlined in the field of co-operation projects with third countries:
- to help them define, formulate and implement their energy policy in fields of mutual interest
- to promote industrial co-operation between the European Union and third countries in the energy sector.

According to the internal project rules the Chinese participants for the long term training in Europe were preselected and indicated by the relevant Chinese authorities (MoST and SETC). The addressing of the trainees to host organisations in the EU was done by CENTRIC AUSTRIA, combining interests of the preselected trainees and facilities of the host organisation the best way. At least nine such combinations between Chinese trainees and appropriate EU host organisations were established.
