April 2004 : CENTRIC AUSTRIA INTERNATIONAL signed first contract with ASEAN CENTRE OF ENERGY in Jakarta, Indonesia

From April 2004 until April 2006 CENTRIC AUSTRIA INTERNATIONAL will execute the EEAF project Feasibility Study for the implementation of Energy Integrated Urban Planning (EIUP) in ASEAN cities and of applicability of European approaches. The project will focus on ASEAN cities mainly in the Mekong area and Indonesia and the Philippines
=> to increase the security of energy supply in ASEAN as well as in EU;
=> to increase economic exchanges between EU and ASEAN;
=> to improve the environment at local and global level;
=> to facilitate the implementation of the ASEAN plan for energy cooperation 2002-2004.
The project faces the interrelation of energy, environment and sustainable urban development:
Energy is one of the permitting factors in the process of urbanization and has profound influence on the location and direction of urban development. The utilization of energy in cities and the quality of the natural environment in the city cannot be divorced from each other since they are interrelated. In fact, policies developed for one could either conflict or be in accord with the other.
Energy-integrated urban planning makes possible the formulation of a city development plan that takes into consideration the energy and environment implications of whatever policies, programs, activities and strategies that were formulated or adopted in the plan.
The team in charge of the project implementation consists of an international partnership.
