March 2006 : Regional Dissemination Conference in Bangkok to present results of EIUP
The workshop was conducted as scheduled from March 13 ?14, 2006 in Bangkok. The objective of the workshop was to disseminate the results of the action to key stakeholders in ASEAN urban planning, including representatives from host and candidate cities, ACE, REPP-SSN, and environment ministries of ASEAN. The workshop also highlighted European experiences and lessons for ASEAN.
The final regional workshop was again successfully organized and held in close collaboration with UNESCAP, which acted as co-host of the workshop. UNESCAP also made special presentations on regional urban development issues as well as strategic energy management and planning.

During the opening session, which was chaired by Prof Thierry Lefevre the speakers expressed their satisfaction about the great interest of ASEAN cities on Energy Integrated Urban Planning, the importance of this project and the useful outcome of the two years intensive work. For the new participants the frameworks of EU and ASEAN related policies were introduced. The project partners expressed their gratitude for financial support received by the donors and active participation received by the ASEAN cities.
In the following sessions the benefits and the methodology of EIUP was presented by the experts of the international project team. The representatives of the three host cities presented their results based on the meanwhile completed EIUP Working Reports. In a roundtable session other ASEAN cities contributed their own experiences in energy planning. Further presentations highlighted the different approaches on international level including financing and policies.
The workshop was continued in smaller working groups, which discussed specific topics on EIUP, project development and financing.
