March 2008 : ECOPROFIT Cluster established in Ulan Bator
The last activity within the main implementation phase of the project ECOPROFIT for Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Mongolia had the objective to build up a network consisting of the participating pilot companies and new recruited further companies and institutions, who might be interested to share their experiences to achieve sustainable entrepreneurship.
One of the features, how such a network could work, is to organise periodical meetings and workshops on selected topics. The presence of the EU expert team in Ulan Bator from March 27 to 29, 2008 was used to perform the first of these types of workshops. The event was attended by some 40 people including pilot and new companies and further institutions. The list of participants is published on the project web site to ease communication and contact making among the network members. Some companies and potential stakeholders at the very successful meeting showed their serious interest to further develop the ECOPROFIT cluster. It was recommended that the best place for the cluster management would be MNCCI, as they have a very good relation to companies and their stakeholders and they plan to develop a cleaner production centre anyway. Now it is important to use the momentum of this event to formalize the Ecoprofit cluster. It is the plan to hold already a second ECOPROFIT Cluster workshop in timely connection with the final conference of the project.
