November 2009: Cleaner Production project in the Croatian hospitality industry concluded successfully

The Cleaner Production Promotion Campaign for the Croatian hospitality sector ended successfully. In the 12 month duration of the project more than 140 representatives of the Croatian hospitality sector participated in workshops and a total of six pilot projects were carried out.

CAI joined forces for this project with seven Croatian partners from the academic field and from civil society. Building on the strong relations with the University of Rijeka the partners managed to set-up a nationwide network for NGOs for the promotion of the concepts of CP in the hospitality sector.

The project aimed at two target groups, a total of 144 hotel employees have attended the 15 workshops held between May - November 2009. Additionally six Cleaner Production audits were undertaken in six hotels throughout Croatia, the results are available in a case study booklet at www.uniri.hr/cpcr - Croatian.

The second main target group was civil society organisations, since they gained practical knowledge on how to provide added value to this important sector in Croatia. Furthermore their consulting capacity was increased.
