September 19, 2003 : Governmental Chief Engineers from China visited Klagenfurt

During 10th – 27th September 2003, 26 technical chief governmental officials of Nanning were invited to visit Klagenfurt, Austria, for an educational stay.

These guests from Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang in South China, which is Klagenfurt’s youngest twin city, were informed about Klagenfurt’s and Carinthian’s concepts of city development, town planning, environmental protection town rehabilitation and development.

Participants from China were surprised about the very good air quality in Klagenfurt and Liu Dequan, leader of delegation mentioned that they will try to achieve this air quality in their city within the next three years.

During their stay in Klagenfurt, the delegation of Nanning had change to visit sewage water plants, sorting plants, waste disposal plants. They also visited the Klagenfurt fair, where interesting subjects in regard to environmental protection, city development and water, as well as other interesting subjects were exhibited.

One day of their tour, 19th September 2003, was reserved to visit CENTRIC AUSTRIA INTERNATIONAL. During their visit in CENTRIC AUSTRIA’ s main office in Klagenfurt the guests of Nanning were informed about the international activities of CENTRIC AUSTRIA, as well as of the co-operations and projects in and with China. One of the main interests of the delegation seemed to be the water sector where Mr. Weihs, Managing Director of CENTRIC AUSTRIA, had chance to introduce “Auqa Profit” one of the new developed training programmes of CENTRIC AUSTRIA. This programme was of great interest for the delegation. Further project co-operations seem to be possible.
