September 2006 : First company workshop on Cleaner Production in Mongolia
During this period the project entered the Main Implementation Phase after successful inception of the project during April to July 2006. In the present period the project was presented to a number of public stakeholders and the first workshop with the Mongolian companies and first site visits were conducted. The project is developing smoothly and on schedule.
The first company workshop was held in UB from September 04 – 06, 2006. The training was provided by the EU experts Mr. Gerhard Weihs and Mr. Wolfgang Weissel (CAI) and Mr. Colum Gibson (CTC), who arrived one day earlier in UB to meet for final preparations. The opening of the workshop on September 04, 2006 saw a great audience, as also representatives of Mongolian government and business institutions were invited to this session. The following days were attended by rather high ranking representatives of the selected MN companies. The program (see Annex) was a good mix of input sessions, exercises and group work, presentations and feedback sessions. The first company workshop saw as well a very motivated sample of MN companies and it can be expected that the project objectives will be met with this set up of companies.
During the first company workshop appointments with the participating companies were made for first site visits. The companies were visited by Mr. Colum Gibson (CTC) and members of the MNCCI team in the following two weeks to perform an initial check and survey. As ongoing activity detailed technology assessments were started after the company visits; they will continue during the whole main implementation phase.
