About E.V.A.
As a non-profit energy research and policy institution E.V.A. gives advice to decision-makers in energy policy and the energy sector. Its mission is to promote:
- the rational use of energy and
- a stimulation of renewable energy sources and of innovative technologies at a national and international level.
Background and Status
The Austrian Energy Agency (E.V.A.) was established in 1977 as a non-profit organisation. E.V.A. is the Austrian energy research and policy institution in which the federal and the provincial administration ("State" and "Regions" respectively) and some thirty important institutions and corporations from a variety of economic sectors cooperate.
The board of directors comprises the federal minister charged with environmental affairs, the federal minister charged with energy affairs and the chairman of the provincial governors.
E.V.A. is located in Vienna, Austria and has due to its membership in the European Energy Network - EnR a strong position in Europe. E.V.A. is the Austrian representative of the European Energy Network EnR.
