The Ministry of Science and Technology
MOST was in March 1998 approved by the First Session of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) that the State Science and Technology Commission (SSTC) changed its name into the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as a central government agency under the State Council, responsible for the nation's science and technology activities.

New and High-Tech Department of MOST
One important task in the New and High-Tech Department of MOST is to carry out international co-operation to develop clean energy technologies. In the recent years clean energy technologies and energy efficiency play a more and more important role and the division attached great importance in it. MOST has conducted a great number of international co-operation projects. EU was already an important co-operation partner in the past. In last 20 years in the energy training co-operation great experience were accumulated which is very useful for further project identification and implementation.
