Austria’s southernmost province
Located in the South at the border to Italy and Slovenia Carinthia is one of the 9 federal provinces in Austria. Small and medium enterprises are typical for Carinthia’s industrial structure. On the base of production value the following ranking can be established: electrical and electronical industry, chemicals, quarrying and ceramics, food as well as building industry. Due to its rich forests there are many companies in the field of wood production. The numerousness lakes invite many tourists during the whole year.

Department 15 – Environment and Engineering
The Department has highly experienced staff in the objectives of legal , technical and political advice of all environmental related matters. The transfer of experience and know-how also to the Central- and Eastern European Countries is one of the professional tasks. Thus, Carinthia is launching several environmental projects in the frame of several programmes of the EU. The Province of Carinthia is also in a leading position of Austria’s engagement in the exchange of the experience on EU environmental law and regulatory within the EU IMPEL-Network.

In-depth knowledge and experience
The about 100 experts of the department have in-depth knowledge and experience of environmental due diligence including most relevant areas as toxic and hazardous substances and waste, pollution emission and prevention, water and air monitoring, assessment of environmental impact of industrial installations and comprehensive experience of authority’s needs and requirements for licensing of industrial operations.
