First workshop and company site visits
During the July-mission of the EU project manager the date for the first company workshop was fixed with September 04 to 08, 2006. This activity intended to include also an event to launch the project to the public.
The first company workshop was held then in UB from September 04 ?06, 2006. The training was provided by the EU experts Mr. Gerhard Weihs and Mr. Wolfgang Weissel (CAI) and Mr. Colum Gibson (CTC), who arrived one day earlier in UB to meet for final preparations. The opening of the workshop on September 04, 2006 saw a great audience, as also representatives of Mongolian government and business institutions were invited to this session. The following days were attended by rather high ranking representatives of the selected MN companies. The program (see Annex) was a good mix of input sessions, exercises and group work, presentations and feedback sessions:

- Learning by doing through exercises and role plays
- Prepare homework and on-site-consulting until the second company workshop
During the workshop the participants worked and participated very committed. The workshop was held bilingual in Mongolian and English. Generally the participants were chosen well, they understood most of the terms, progress was fast and after the workshop the companies became homework for the period up to the next workshop.

First round of company visits
During the first company workshop appointments with the participating companies were made for the first site visits. The companies were visited by Mr. Colum Gibson (CTC) and members of the MNCCI team in the following two weeks to perform an initial check and survey.

- Get the commitment from the top management
- Communicate the project and form an ECOPROFIT team in the company
- Assess gaps and CP areas during a go-trough
- Explain the data acquisition methodology on site
