Kick-off meeting in Ulan Bator
The date of the official project start was April 01, 2006. Main objective of the first period was to start the project and to ensure the further project implementation according to the contracted work programme and the contract conditions. After some initial problems caused by team changes on Mongolian side the project could be put on schedule.
According to the work programme the following activities were implemented:

To ensure a better common understanding of the project, the project manager of CAI designed Terms of reference (TOR) to explain and agree on all organisational, financial and personnel terms. This document was circulated among all project partners. The first mission of EU experts to Mongolia was scheduled for mid of April 2006.

Due to travel reasons the for April scheduled meeting (see Activity A 1) had however to be postponed for some weeks to May 09 to 12, 2006, which was still according to the time table. To save money this mission was executed by CAI project manager and technical project manager only. The meeting was successful at the end, although somehow difficult, because the management of the Mongolian partner has changed since the application phase and the whole project had to be discussed and explained to new people again.
