CP3 Hospitality - Cleaner Production Promotion Programme for the hospitality industry

Centric Austria International and the University of Rijeka – Cleaner Production Centre Rijeka have been co-operating for several years in the area of Cleaner Production. In this time the stakeholder network in Croatia has increased step-by-step and with it the outreach of Cleaner Production. At the same time, the general awareness for environmental problems in the Croatian society has increased and the University of Rijeka was approached by several NGOs to disseminate its know-how further. Therefore joint efforts with NGO are not to be undertaken in one of the most relevant sectors of the Croatian economy – hospitality sector.

The overall objective of the project is to increase resource efficiency in the Croatian society especially in regards to water and energy but also other resources. Water and energy consumption in the hospitality sector should be decreased. Furthermore the knowledge and capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in regards to Cleaner Production should be strengthened to disseminate awareness and application of energy and water efficiency throughout the Croatian society.

Proposed outputs and expected results are information and introductory materials developed for CP in the hospitality industry in Croatia and an information portal, which will be to be integrated in CSO websites. Furthermore 15 workshops for businesses from the hospitality sector in Croatia with at least 150 participants will be conducted.

The project is located in Rijeka, Primorsko goranska County and Istarska County.
