Anhui Province Productivity Promotion Center
The center has provided technological policies and project declaring services for over a thousand of enterprises over the past years as a technological intermediate service institution, and have won their appraises. These enterprises are in the period of upgrading with strong will to develop and are prone to adopt novel concepts.
Anhui Province Productivity Promotion Center is under the direction of Anhui Science and Technology Bureau. The lists of key enterprises with compulsory cleaner production audit are released by Environmental Protection Bureau of Anhui Province and the Economic and Trade Commission of Anhui Province every year.

Mechanical Engineering
The company produces a wide variety of different packaging machines, many of these are made to order. They are a large player on the national market and currently have about 90% of the seed packaging market. 20% of their machines are currently exported and they aim to increase this up to 40% in the next few years. They produce both primary and secondary packaging types. They have a design team on site and each year they investigate 3 new product lines. They have 4 main product lines – electronic scales, packaging machines, metal detectors and weight separators. The work that is carried out on site is mainly the preparation of the frames, assembly of the units and testing. They subcontract the metal preparation and finishing work. In addition they manufacture of the electronic parts is also outsourced.
Improvement Options:
- Water – the used volumes seem quite high
- Compressed air – Leak detection and immediate repair would allow significant savings.
- Process Change – The process in the workshop could be streamlined
- Waste - An accurate review of waste arisings should be made and the main wasteful steps (and reasons behind the wastes) identified.
Pharmaceutical Company
The company is a high and new technical corporation engaged in amino acid manufacture, management, technical development, etc. The main products are L-alanine, DL- alanine, L- alanine acid, DL-aspartic acid, D-aspartic acid, Monosodium L-aspartate, L- glutamine acid.
Improvement Options:
- Water – More information on water quality and contamination levels of cleaning water
- Product – Review air bome losses from the packaging area
- Compressed air – Move the compressor closer to its point of use
- Steam – Improve lag tanks, pipes, fittings and fix all leaks
- Air heating – Review the current blower system – can the exhaust gas be used? Are there any losses from this process?
- Wastes – Investigate activated carbon for recovery
