Pharmaceutical Company
This company makes products for mouth ulcers and oral canker sores. The product has been on the market for 20 years but is out of patent. The companie employs 30 employees and the site is new with modern equipment. Currently the company is operating on one batch per day but intends to extend this to three shifts.
Improvement Options:
- Water – more information on water quality and contamination levels
- Lighting – currently using 36WT8. Use motion sensors
- Compressed air – leak detection and system testing
- Process Change – eventually produce several batches of product in one shift and bottle it in the following days to reduce cleaning times and labour
Pharmaceutical Company
This company produces pills, capsules and powder medicines. The raw materials are shipped from their main production plant which may also join in this CP initiative. The weekly deliveries are between 5 and 8 tonnes and another 6 tonnes of additives are purchased locally. The weekly output is about 10 tonnes of product.
Improvement Options:
- Water – More information on water quality and contamination levels of cleaning water
- Lighting – Use of motion sensors
- Compressed air – Leak detection and system testing
- Water heating – Lag the tank and cover
- Air heating – Review the current system and investigate reuse and/or heat recovery
