Project Activities

The project has the following main activities:

• Establish Cleaner Production Service Units in selected business intermediaries in each of the targeted Chinese Less Developed Regions. The CPSUs should be able to run future Cleaner Production Programmes on their own.

• Train Cleaner Production Trainers from Cleaner Production Service Units. The trainers provide training to further potential experts. Cleaner Production consulting and training services to enterprises will be provided on a larger scale in the future.

• Conduct Cleaner Production Pilot Projects in selected enterprises the target regions. The projects serve as show cases for the benefits of Cleaner Production and should motivate to follow up.

• Develop a Cleaner Production Tool-Kit (manuals, work sheets, examples and case studies of how to implement Cleaner Production in practice). This tool-kit will support the new Cleaner Production trainers as well as SMEs.

• Develop a Cleaner Production Campaign for setting up Cleaner Production Programmes on a larger scale. This guideline will help the CPSUs organizing follow up actions to sustain the approach on financial, institutional and political level.

• Regional Dissemination Conference to inform institutions from other Chinese provinces about this CP model.
