Ⅰ Company Profile

Founded in 1971, Kunming Yusi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is located near Nigula Village, in the east of Dongchuan District of Kunming City. It mainly manufactures large volume injection (LVI), supplemented with traditional Chinese medicine. It is a company producing both chemical medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. It has 110 approved products with state medical permit number.

Ⅱ Products and Process

The company's main product is the large volume injection with annual production of 200 million bottles, followed by small volume injection (SVI) with annual production of 100 million ampoules.

Large volume injection's production process includes four steps: blend raw materials and auxiliary materials, treat rubber stoppers and infusion bottle, prepare water for injection, and filling. Small volume injection's production process includes four steps: blend raw materials and auxiliary materials, clean ampoules, and prepare and fill water for process.

Ⅲ CPA Objective and Achievement Status

The cleaner production audit started in August 2008, and ended in May 2009. The objective and achievement status of the cleaner production is shown in Table 1.

Ⅳ Cleaner Production Audit Options and Benefits

Twenty three cleaner production options have been developed and implemented in this cleaner production audit work, including 20 none/low cost options and 3 middle/high cost options. These options mainly include condensed water recycling, increased frequency of dealing with filter systems used in the pharmaceutical industry, repair of draught fan and so on. The summary of the implementation effect of these options can be found in Table 2.
