No. 13 Pilot Project: Lanzhou Thermoelectricity Co., Ltd.

Ⅰ Company Profile

With its predecessor being GuoDian Lanzhou Thermal power plant, the company was originally set up in 1987. Later, it changed its name to Guodian Lanzhou Thermoelectricity Co., Ltd.

Located in the southeast of Chengguan District of Lanzhou, it is a cogeneration company that provides central heating for the urban area of Lanzhou and is committed to combating air pollution.

Ⅱ Products and Process

Its primary products are electric energy and thermal power, with the annual output reaching 1.3 billion kWh and 3.1 million GJ respectively. The production process involves raw material grinding, air preheating, ingredient burning, chemical water treatment and steam power generation and so on.

Ⅲ CPA Objective and Achievement Status

The cleaner production audit started in December 2008 and ended in September 2009, lasting 10 months. See table 1 for information about the cleaner production objectives.

Ⅳ Cleaner Production Audit Options and Benefits

There are altogether 20 cleaner production options completed in this cleaner production audit, of which 8 are none/low cost options and 12 are middle/high cost options. Main options include strengthening management over coal bulldozers and optimizing the heating system and so on. The summary of the implementation effects of the options is shown in Table 2.
