No. 4 Pilot Project: A Cement Company in Sichuan Deyang

Ⅰ Company Profile

Founded in 2006, the company is located in　Deyang City, Sichuan Province. It employs　the latest developed dry process of predecomposition　of calcium carbide residue　outside of kiln to produce cement. Many of　its equipment have national patents and its　technology is leading in the nation.

Ⅱ Products and Process

The main product is carbide slag cement clinker, with an annual output of 496,000 tons of　cement clinker, 620,000 tons of cement, 248,000 tons of 42.5 P.O ordinary Portland cement,　and 372,000 tons of 42.5R P.O ordinary Portland cement. The production process includes　raw material preparation, raw material grinding, coal power preparation, cement clinker　calcinations, cement preparation and packaging.

Ⅲ CPA Objective and Achievement Status

The cleaner production audit started in December 2008, and ended in October 2009, lasting for 11 months. The audit objective of cleaner production is shown in Table 1.

Ⅳ Cleaner Production Audit Options and Benefits

Eighteen cleaner production options have been developed and implemented in this cleaner　production audit work, including 13 none/low cost options and 5 middle/high cost options. These options mainly include shed transformation, transformation of carbide slag transportation equipment, steel scrap recycling and so on. The summary of the implementation effects of the options is shown in Table 2.
