Elements of ECOPROFIT

An ECOPROFIT program involves a number of companies of different sizes and branches who throughout the project learn the principles of cleaner production.

The overall aim of ECOPROFIT is to increase the efficiency of companies by reducing their demand of raw materials and energy and thus to minimise the environmental impacts caused by industry. In Austria a close co-operation between participating companies, consultants as well as representatives of the municipality make the success of this cleaner production program.

The ECOPROFIT basic program consists of three elements:

o        Common workshops

o        Individual consulting

o        ECOPROFIT award

In principle, each element can be looked at separately. According to the successful concept of ECOPROFIT that is based on a holistic view of the companies' activities, however, parallel implementation of all elements is a key factor for the success of the program.
