Energy efficiency is a top priority in moving to a sustainable energy system

A sustainable system is characterised by its ability to deliver required services without exhausting resources. Efficient use of all resources is necessary both in an environmental and economic sense. Using energy inefficiently creates waste in all the world's economies and has environmental impacts with local, regional and global implications.
Energy conservation is a key element for sustainable development

Energy resources are the key to economy. More than 85% of the energy carriers are from temporary limited resources: coal, oil, gas and nuclear energy by fission. Therefore the present world economy do not meet the goal of sustainability and has therefore no future prospects. The energy consumption of today has a high potential to disturb the environment by greenhouse gases and toxic emissions. Therefore, it is necessary to change the energy economy also because of environmental protection. Improvements in energy efficiency bring "win-win" solutions, they bring environmental and economic benefits at the same time.

=> Energy efficiency = wise use of resources + increased use of renewables + controlled use of non-renewables

=> Efficient use of Energy - key element in a country‘s economy = competivness of companies + stability of economy + quality of environment + personal comfort

Energy Efficiency
=> can weaken the link between energy demand and economic growth
=> can reduce the pressure of energy demand growth
=> can free resources for investment
=> can reduce dependence from energy imports
