Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)

The experts of CENTRIC support organizations to implement a standard occupational health and safety management system according to BS 18001.

The OHSAS BS 18001 Specification gives requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable an organization to control its OH&S risks and improve its performance. OHSAS 18001 has been developed in response to customer demand for a recognizable occupational health and safety management system standard against which their management systems can be assessed and certified.

  • OHSAS 18001 is designed to place a proactive and preventative emphasis on risk control factors by identifying and assessing the likelihood of hazards in the workplace.
  • An organization’s conformance to OHSAS 18001 safeguards that employees, clients and all parties in question are exposed to as few risks as possible.
  • Third-party certification authenticates that an organization has taken steps to avoid accidents and hazardous situations using a comprehensive and effectively implemented system. Furthermore the company demonstrates an effective and efficient preventative health system.
  • Elements of an occupational health and safety management system include an occupational Health and Safety Policy, planning, implementation and operations, checking and corrective actions, management review and continual improvement.

Centric supports industries to establish a project team, to assess relevant risks and the current OH&S system, to develop an implementation plan and the corresponding documentation for the management system.

To apply the OHSAS Standards, will result in:

  • Reduce the number of accidents.
  • Reduce downtime and associated costs.
  • Demonstrate its legal compliance and commitment to health and safety.
  • Demonstrate an innovative and forward thinking approach.
  • Better management of health and safety risks, now and in the future.
  • Reduce public liability insurance costs.
  • Above all, certification acts as a positive forward messenger towards international partners.
